Yes-vember
Three years ago I participated in NaBloPoMo. No, that's not a post-modern porn flick; it's short for National Blog Posting Month, an annual event where bloggers are encouraged to post once a day for the month of November. I made it through, though at times it was dicey, stressful and crazy-making. On the other hand, I feel that some of my best writing happened during that month, sometimes on posts that I started with no earthly idea what I was going to write about.
Writing is exercise. The more you do it, the easier it gets, and the better you get at it. I've done no small amount of writing lately, but it's nearly all be deadline-driven work for clients, and although it all falls within the greater umbrella of "creative writing," there has been little room for personal expression. I miss writing for writing's sake, and so I have decided to undertake the NaBloPoMo challenge once again.
Furthermore, I have a huge backlog of things I'm just dying to tell you about. I have oh, so much more to say about Maui, and we also went to San Luis Obispo a while back for a trip that got my wheels spinning. We're going to Mexico this month to visit a dear friend. We're hosting Thanksgiving this year, for the first time ever. So, I am using this challenge as an excuse to get off my figurative keester (since, in fact, I will be squarely esconced on my literal keester while doing it) and actually deliver the words.
So, come along for the ride, won't you?
